UPDATE: Richie Valens Missing Family Heirlooms Found

UPDATE: Iowa Police discovered the missing photo frames on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2019. The suspects are still at large and are under investigation.

Three, large-framed (4 ft. high) poster-sized family photos of Ritchie Valens went missing from the Ritchie Valens Family Luncheon held in the ballroom of the Best Western Motor Lodge in Clear Lake, IA, on Saturday, Feb. 2.

The luncheon was part of a larger celebration, The Winter Dance Party, held at the Surf Ballroom, celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Day the Music Died. The missing pieces may be returned to the Surf Ballroom or the Clear Lake police station. No questions asked. “This has been an overwhelming loss for the family,” said Connie Valens, Ritchie’s sister. “We hope that whoever is responsible does the right thing and return the photos and poster.” The family would also like to ask Ritchie’s fans to pray and to thank them for their love, encouragement, and support.
