The Three Stooges have been popular for four generations. They achieved such stardom in vaudeville in the late 1920s, that in the early 1930s they were offered film contracts by five major film studios. The Three Stooges finally settled in at Columbia Pictures where they made 190 short-films and a variety of features for twenty-four years. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s they continued performing live on stages around the country and even in Europe. In the 1950s they began starring in a series of feature films, and by the time they made a TV pilot in 1970, most of their 220 films had already been showing on television nationwide and around the world for a decade. Fifty years later, their films are still being shown daily on television, and every one of their short films has been released for home entertainment.
No other comedians have had such a run, not the Marx Brothers, not Laurel & Hardy, not Abbott & Costello, not Martin & Lewis, nor any other comedy team, or comedian for that matter. In fact, the Stooges get more regular exposure on television than any other film stars. Who else has had their films shown on their own daily and weekly shows nationwide for five decades? Simply put, The Three Stooges are one of the most widely recognized and easily identifiable icons of American popular culture.
It therefore seems only appropriate to continue The Three Stooges unique brand of slapstick comedy in the modern era. C3 Entertainment intends to produce new The Three Stooges films which will carry on the tradition of The Three Stooges, honor their great legacy, and re-introduce The Three Stooges to new generations of fans. Some of these film projects are described below.
