GLENDALE, CA – September 17, 2019 – Gidget™ is Back. C3 Entertainment Inc. has added Gidget to their brand roster. This is the 60th anniversary for Gidget, and the little surfer girl remains the “absolute Ultimate” when it comes to sun, surfing the waves, the beach and the easygoing California lifestyle.
Based on real-life characters from the mid-1950s, Gidget burst into films in 1959 with a series of blockbuster features, and a popular TV Series in the 1960’s starring Sally Field as Gidget. These created a new beach culture and made surfing a mainstream sport. The iconic Gidget became a teen idol and spawned a new wave of American beach movies that remain popular today, and around the world.
The Gidget brand represents the California beach and fun in the sun lifestyle. There is no better brand that speaks to fresh outdoor fun and sun, the innocence and joys of youth, and all that comes with beach culture, including bikinis, surfing, swimming, sunbathing, beach volleyball, beach BBQs, concerts and just enjoying it all!
“What a spectacular time for the 60th anniversary of the princess of fun and sun at the beach. How fortunate for any beach product or sun care company to have Gidget as a sponsor, but even more, the licensing and sponsorship opportunities for Gidget are truly unlimited,” said Ani Khachoian, C3 Executive Vice President for Licensing, Merchandise and Distribution. “Gidget is the perfect addition to our C3 brand roster.”
Jenny Annoni, the brand manager for Gidget, is very excited to be part of the C3 Entertainment brand portfolio, saying “It is so great that both Gidget and C3 Entertainment share a 60 year anniversary with worldwide iconic brands that have brought so much joy and fun to millions of fans. We are all thrilled that Gidget is back!”

Los Angeles, CA – November 13, 2018 – Valorous TV, the all new digital streaming subscription service from Valorous Media, will be an official sponsor of next month’s Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. Valorous CEO Earl Benjamin said “We are thrilled to be part of this annual college tradition which also pays tribute to our great Armed Forces.”
The 16th edition of the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl is set for Saturday, Dec. 22, at 2:30 p.m. (CT)/12:30 p.m. (PT). The game is played at Amon G. Carter Stadium on the campus of Texas Christian University, and is televised nationally on ESPN.
Played in honor of the Armed Forces of the United States, it is the only collegiate football bowl game that has hosted all three U.S. Military Academy football teams – Air Force (2007, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2015), Army (2010, 2017) and Navy (2013, 2016).
The Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl has featured the “armed forces” theme since 2006. Patriotic overtones recognizing all five branches of the service are prevalent throughout the game. Past Armed Forces Bowls have included fanfest adventure areas showcasing armed forces hardware; flyovers; demonstrations by several of the military’s top skydiving teams; custom homes awarded to wounded warriors; on-field induction ceremonies; armed forces bands and honor guards; the annual Great American Patriot Award presented by Armed Forces Insurance; and the annual Armed Forces Merit Award.
Last year’s game saw Army West Point score 14 points in the final 18 seconds to defeat San Diego State, 42-35. It was the second straight Armed Forces Bowl decided in the closing seconds. CBSSports.com has ranked it as the third-best bowl game each of the past two years.
The football contest is one of 14 bowls produced by ESPN Events.

LOS ANGELES, CA – August 6, 2018 – A stretch of the 5 Freeway in the Northeast San Fernando Valley will be renamed the Ritchie Valens Memorial Highway in honor of the local rock legend.
A family-friendly festival and movie screening of La Bamba will be held at Ritchie Valens Park in Pacoima (10731 Laurel Canyon Blvd) on August 25th from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm to celebrate the official unveiling of the Ritchie Valens Memorial Highway signs.
“Ritchie Valens exemplifies the talent and greatness that exists in this community — breaking barriers as one of the first Latino musicians to cross over to mainstream rock and roll,” said Los Angeles City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez. “His music was the soundtrack for generations of Angelenos and his legacy is a source of pride for our Pacoima community.
“His music inspired and influenced a generation of Chicano artists in our community and throughout the world. It’s only fitting to name this segment of the I-5 after a Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer who grew up right here in Pacoima,” Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra, D-Pacoima, said when he announced the legislation’s passage. This event is presented by Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez and the Ritchie Valens Tribute Committee, the event will feature live entertainment, food trucks, and a screening of the movie, La Bamba at 7:30 pm.
Confirmed performers include DJ Rhythm Donor (Bobby Arias), Backyard Blues Band (featuring Mario Valens, and the Ritchie Valens tribute performers, Ernie Valens Band.
About Ritchie Valens: A legendary artist who still resonates today, Ritchie Valens rose to fame in the late 1950’s as the first Latino rock star and a pioneer of rock ’n’ roll with hits such as “La Bamba,” “Come On, Let’s Go,” and “Donna.”
Valens began recording for Del-Fi Records in 1958. In a career spanning only eight months, he recorded three albums of over 30 songs and released nine singles including five chart-toppers with “Donna” peaking at #2 on the Billboard pop chart in 1958.
Ritchie Valens along with legendary musicians Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper died in a tragic plane crash on February 3, 1959, during their Winter Dance Party tour; a day referred to as the day the music died.
Since his untimely death at the age of 17, his music has gained in popularity and influenced generations of musicians. Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana are both cited as influenced by Valens’ guitar playing. Artists from Led Zeppelin to Los Lobos have recorded his music.
Valens who was inducted into the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, is remembered with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a major motion picture, La Bamba, a U.S. Postage Stamp, and namesake soft drink.

Citrus & Salt Opens Next Week, and There Will Be Dole Whips
Boston Eater November 13, 2017
longtime Back Bay restaurant will be reborn next week with a new name, new menu, and new decor. On Tuesday, November 21, Back Bay Harry’s transforms into Citrus & Salt, a Baja-inspired restaurant with a menu that reflects chef Jason Santos’s enthusiasm for the coastal cuisine of Southern California and Mexico.
Just nine months after debuting the New Orleans-inspired Buttermilk & Bourbon in the former BarLola space, Santos moves west for his newest project. The Mexico- and California-influenced menu at Citrus & Salt (142 Berkeley St.) features items like braised lamb flautas, Jonah crab tostadas, a duck carnitas empanada, beer-battered fish tacos, and ceviche, as Boston Magazinereports. As previously reported, the menu is meant to be a bit analogous to that of Buttermilk & Bourbon. The latter has oyster chowder, for example, while the former will have crab and cactus chowder. Buttermilk & Bourbon has honey-glazed biscuits with smoked cinnamon butter; Citrus & Salt will have agave-glazed blue cornmeal biscuits with smoked canela (aka cinnamon) butter and poblano-pepper jack spread.
Santos has partnered with chef Zen Hyderck, who comes to Citrus & Salt from the Waldorf Astoria in Boca Raton, Florida. Hyderck will oversee the menu, which boasts a signature item from his previous state: Dole Whip appears on the restaurant’s dessert menu. Diners may recognize this pineapple-flavored dessert from Disney, where it’s a cult classic. Citrus & Salt’s version will be served in a pineapple cup, and other desserts include additional sorbet flavors and churros.
On the drinks side, general manager and partner Colleen Hagerty has built a menu that features beer, wine, cocktails, and a selection of margaritas made with fruit purées. Citrus & Salt will offer red and white sangrias, a shareable margarita, and drinks accompanied by paletas, or popsicles. Additionally, there will be nitro cold brew coffee available on tap with chocolate tequila, cinnamon, and whipped cream.
The renovated space — designed by Boston-based Assembly Design Studio — features light accents, including pink tinted walls, wood panels, a succulent wall, and a skeleton mural, with twinkling light fixtures hanging overhead. Not pictured here: the “Garden of Santeria,” a darker dining room in the rear (available for private events) that features lounge furniture, greenery, and blacklight-responsive murals. The restaurant seats 150, with 20 at the main dining room bar.
Citrus & Salt will be open from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, with the kitchen open until 10 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, the kitchen will stay open until 11 p.m. while the bar will remain open until 1 a.m. The restaurant will later add lunch and brunch service.
